Our Projects
Katunda Enterprise Centre
The project is based in Katunda along Machakos- Kikima road on the border of Makueni –Machakos county. The project is aimed at supporting young people who want to set up or expand their businesses within the Makueni County. The project is supported by the local Diaspora Community and the Local County government.
Under this project high quality 10 business incubation units with separate power units and security doors have been completed in an enclosed secure ‘shopping mall and the upcoming entrepreneurs can now rent out incubations units at competitive rates to help set-up and run their businesses. Members can also access individual loans from the local county government and receive on-going support from the county government field officers to help apply and manage their loans repayment.
Some of the young people who have successfully been interviewed for a possible allocation of a business unit are in the process of setting businesses such as : Barber shop, Mobile shop accessories, boutique, Mobile Money Transfer (MPESA), Boda Boda Sacco office, Taxi office, Tailoring shop, Food Kiosk, photography etc.
The business enterprise Centre when fully operational will be managed by a qualified business advisor who will be helping young entrepreneurs with any support needs such as coop membership paper work, microfinance applications, banking, tax/ council rates returns. The project is currently looking for sponsors to recruit for a qualified in house business advisor and are currently in touch with VSO – an international capacity building charity – who have shown interest in supplying qualified business advisors when the funding becomes available.
